Getting ready for Fall shows

I am getting ready for the Fall shows, starting with the Ability Center Auxillary luncheon at the Stranahan Great Hall on September 23. I have been working on new designs and have more winter coats this year. As the weather gets cooler, it is "sew" much fun to create all day in the studio. I find it very hard to go in the studio when the sun is shining and I can be outside. I have lots of new ideas and am going this week to take some classes with
Koos van den Akker and Kenneth King at the sewing expo in Novi, for more inspiration.

Art in the Garden was a great show

The art show at Garden Delights in Sylvania on Saturday June 13 was a great success! The rain held off and the sun was shining for a lot of the day. I sold two of my newest creations early in the day. Now I need to get busy and make some more of those styles. Here are some pictures of the show. The blue jacket that I am wearing is one of the newest designs and is made from a silk and cashmere pashmina, very comfy to wear and easy to care for. The grey and beige pieced wool jacket contains several pieces of wool that I found in Ireland. So soft and warm. This is one of my favorite shows of the year. I currently have no shows scheduled until fall and am looking forward to lots of studio time.

Summertime

Time just seems to fly by. In March I went to New York for a few days and found some wonderful new fabrics and trims for my jackets. In April I was lucky enough to travel for 2 weeks in Ireland looking for wool and inspiration for new designs.
Now I am back and trying to get some new things made for the upcoming shows.

Here is one of my new designs for summer. I have been working with some beautiful upholstery fabrics and am very pleased with the results.

This is one of my pieced wool jackets made for a special order. The yellow and black makes a striking combination.

After a recent reorganization of my studio I am anxious to get busy on new creations.

Spring is coming!!

These are some of the new designs I have been working on. They are made of blue and black wool and have some very unique details like curved seams, triangle pockets and handcrafted "fur".

I will be so glad to see the sun shine and get outdoors for walks. I have been spending a lot of time in the studio creating some new designs. I am doing a luncheon show for the Opera Guild on March 9 and a luncheon show for the Symphony League on March 26.

Creative New Year!!!

Here are pictures of two of the jackets that were ordered at the fall shows. The white one is a lined fleece coat with appliqued vines and roses, the closure is incorporated into the design.

The black and yellow piece jacket is a mixture of new and recycled wool and I have used a new technique for the pieced sleeves.

I have been working on some new designs for 2009 and finishing up the orders from my fall shows. I have no shows scheduled until March so it is time to work and play in the studio. I just ordered some really cool new fabrics from Vogue in Chicago and Fabric Mart in PA. and will probably make a trip to New York in the spring to look for more wonderful fabrics and buttons.

Here is a picture of a winter coat with handknitted sleeves made from a double sided wool. This was an order from one of the fall shows .
