Having a busy time at the Fall Shows

Here are a few of my latest SEW COOL!! jackets. The lavender is actually more of winter coat and has needlefelted floral designs. The yellow and black is one of my pieced wool jackets made from recycled sweaters and skirts. The rust colored cardigan jacket has a needlefelted design on the collar and cuffs. All of these jackets are in a large size, but of course you can custom order if you need a different size or want other colors.

Here are some pictures from the show at Southview High School on November 1. There was a great turnout and it is always a fun show to do.

I also did a show at Stone Oak Country Club which was very well attended and I had fun there meeting some of the other vendors that I didn't already know. Last Sunday was the Holiday boutique at Clara J's Tea room in Maumee. It was so much fun! Some of my previous customers were there and several added to their collections of SEW COOL!! jackets. I came away from these shows with several orders for custom jackets. That should keep me busy for a while!

I am looking forward to the upcoming "Girl's night out" events at the Southbriar and at El Matador. These shows are always casual and so much fun to have the chance to really get to know my customers. I hope some of you can make it to one of these events.

Lakeside Lighthouse Festival

Last week-end I was so happy to be a part of the Lakeside Lighthouse Festival. The weather was picture perfect!! What a great turnout too. It is always so nice to get to interact with my customers and see my jackets find new homes.

My friend Diane came too and sold most of her Pandora look-alike jewelry and some of her cosmetic bags and woven shawls. We stayed at a local bed and breakfast and had a really great girls' weekend. I made some good contacts there and may do a trunk show in November at "Just for Ewe" in Marblehead, a cute little complex of shops.

I am gearing up for the upcoming shows and starting to design some winter coats.

Can it really be fall already???

My fall show season is starting with the Ability Center's fall fashion show, tomorrow at the Stranahan Great hall. I have listed some of my other upcoming shows. Please come by and see my work in person at any of the upcoming shows. I can customize any of my jacket styles if you need special sizing or prefer different colors. All of my jackets are one of a kind and made by me in my studio.

This is one of my eyelash jackets, so much fun to wear. I have this jacket in white, fushia and also in some animal prints. I bought more of this fabric in navy, black and purple, when I was in New York. This lightweight furry look is great for upcoming holiday parties. Also just finished the lime green winter coat with purple gecko leaves. It is of soft fleece and is reversable to purple. It has large front pockets and toggle buttons on the front.

It is so hard to believe that summer has come and gone already. I am starting to work on some new designs for fall. I am posting some pictures of some recently completed jackets. One of my wonderful customers ordered a "shoe" jacket at a home party and she loved it so much she ordered a "purse" jacket too!! These jackets are made from sweatshirt fabric so the are soft, cozy and comfortable to wear. I can customize them to almost any idea you may have. The "purse on the front of the purple jacket is also a pocket.

Fabric shopping in New York was Great!!

New York is so wonderful!!
there is soooo much to
choose from!!! I found
some really fantastic
fabrics to create with. I went to New York in early May with my best
friend and we shopped til
we dropped! I only wish
I could have access to all
the wonderful fabrics and notions all the time.
I will be working on some fun new things for fall and taking some time to enjoy the warm summer months. It is sometimes hard to be inspired to work on coats, jackets and mittens when it is 95 degrees outside.

Thanks to all who stopped by to see me at the Garden Delights show on June 14, it was a nice show and the weather was great! I am not planning any more shows until fall but I do plan to add some things to my etsy site. Check it out at SewCoolCreations.etsy.com

We had a great fashion show at Clara J's tea room

The fashion show at Clara J's tea room was SO much fun! Lots of ladies tried on my latest Sew Cool!! designs and had a wonderful time. I really enjoy doing this type of show, where the ladies relax and have fun trying on different things. One of the hot sellers at this show were the new poncho's I am making from silk and cashmere pashminas and adding unique trims at the neckline. These lightweight ponchos are ideal for cool summer evenings and the fabric is just so soft and light.

Another lightweight summer jacket is the eyelash jacket made of animal prints. I am working on more of this type of jacket in fushia and also in white.

Working on new jackets for 2008

These are just a few of my new jackets for this year I have been working on a couple of new designs and hope to have some more completed soon. Some of the new jackets have handknitted sleeves and custom made fused glass buttons.
I am working on a couple of designs that will be flattering to larger sizes. I think that everyone should have fun creative clothes that will reflect your true personality. Most of the clothes that I see for larger sizes or "mature" women are dull, boxy and just plain boring.
